My New Purchases and a Wonderful Day Out

It has been such a long winter so this was my 1st chance to go plant shopping. It gives me a lift and a buzz when I go garden shopping!

As the garden centre has a coffee shop, the first stop was a nice coffee to start the day. Now revived and ready to browse.

I have been wanting a new Camellia for some time but not to plant in the ground, rather to keep contained in a pot, so yes you know what's coming I need a new pot.

Spring Festival

New pot - I just love it.

I bought a miniature standard Lavender too.

I potted it up with violas and I will plant something to trail down to compliment but not sure what yet.

After garden centre trip went for a nice walk here but we could not walk right round as part of it is still flooded, as you can see in the photo below.

 

After our walk it was getting close to lunch time so we headed over to Glamis Castle for Lunch and then another walk.

 Here we are 14th April and still snowdrops in bloom.

 Where I am a volunteer Gardener on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Then by this time it was after 3pm so we went back and enjoyed a nice Cream Tea where we had lunch earlier.

Come home to see my crocus in bloom.

  

And this is the end of a great day out where I couldn’t help but have the song Perfect Day going round in my head!

Part 3 Glamis Castle Walled Garden Restoration Project

Following on from last week’s blog in the Walled Garden.

Another start to the week and its gardening day again. I had a nice drive down to the castle today, the sun was shining but still so very cold. Karen and I did manage to get some more planting done.

We planted the Roses around the arch and some Clematis. I took a Peony Rose and two Heucheras from my garden and got these planted.

Karen took from her garden Yucca Gloriosa and Phormium Tenax Variegata and has given them a home at Glamis. You are now starting to see a big difference in the borders with all the plants we have planted.

We can now start to see plants growing.

 

The Peony Rose I planted today. As you can see its already starting to show signs of growth.

We planted Paul Scarlet climbing Rose and Dark Eyes and Dr Ruppel Clematis. It will great to see the Arch covered in Roses and Clematis.

And at opposite side on the other arch we planted the Rose Golden Showers and Clematis Aotearon.

 

And again Golden Showers Rose and Clematis Mrs G Jackman and Madame Julia Correvon.

Spring is in the air

Its been such a long cold winter and it still is but at least we are getting some sunshine and spring blooms now.

We still have a little snow but hopefully the weather now shall improve for us all.

I just had a little stroll in my garden with my camera.

 

 

As you can see still a bit of snow in border but I still managed to plant my new Rhodendrum Bybride.

Part 2 Glamis Castle Walled Garden Restoration Project

Well here we are a week on from my last post and most of the snow has gone in the walled garden, so it was great to get planting plants.

As you all know a lot of prep work had been done ready for plants and behind the scenes seeds were sown in the potting shed and seedlings potted in in glasshouse. Now we really need some heat to bring everything to life.

It was great for Karen and I today as we got to enjoy playing in the garden.

The beautiful gates, they are so impressive.
