Some more photos of Salzburg trip

As promised in my last post about our trip to Salzburg I will share some more photos from the trip.

We took a drive around the lake district or Salzkammergut as it is known in German (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salzkammergut).

First, we drove to Fuschl am See which is one of the smaller lakes but very picturesque.

The next stop was the town of St Gilgen which lies alongside Wolfgangsee. The lake is bright turquoise in colour. I’m not sure if the picture does it justice.

Leaving St Gilgen behind, we drove South to a quaint town called Hallstatt (if a bit touristy) which originates from the salt mining days and is built into the hilside overlooking Hallstätter See.

The buildings are very colourful and picturesque, as we found in all of the places we visited in Austria.

It was amazing to see fruit trees growing like this. I think they are pears.

Rounding off our tour of the lakes, we headed back North towards Salzburg and took in Traunsee. This one was spectacular.

The water was so blue in the lake. A magical place.
