Building of Salzburg

Following on from my previous blog posts about our trip to Salzburg last September, I thought I would share some more photos from our trip. These were all taken in the city of Salzburg. We spent a couple of days taking in the sights of this wonderful city.

We stayed at the Bloberger Hof http://www.blobergerhof.at/ guesthouse. We enjoyed our stay very much and the excellent breakfasts which set us up for the day.

The bus stop was just outside the hotel, which was just perfect for getting into see the city.

This is the Dom (or Cathedral).

This is the famous fortress that can be seen from most places in the city.

DSC02764

You take a funicular railway up to the fortress. This in itself was an experience.

 DSC02766

As I’ve said before, don’t forget to look up for some outstanding views!

DSC06788

The fortress offered some amazing views of the surrounding mountains.

DSC02772

And views of the city.

DSC02775

The river Inn flows through the centre of Salzburg, and was a lovely vista from the top.

DSC02781

A piece of modern art sat in harmony with the old buildings.

DSC02792

These buildings are something else. They are impressively built into the side of the rock face.

Buildings in Munich

We spent some time in Munich before heading to Salzburg in September on holiday.

And just had to share some photos of the beautiful buildings.

DSC03299

And the geraniums on every window.

DSC03301

To remember my holiday I am going to have geraniums on my own window boxes.

DSC03303

Don't forget to look up at buildings.

The New City Hall in the Marienplatz looked magnificent against the blue sky.

Some of my Heucheras

Hi everyone. I have been steadily growing my collection of Heucheras for the past few years. If you don't grow Heucheras already, 2012 is the year to start growing them!

They really do change their colours. You will be surprised by the vibrant foliage and also the flowers.

Last year I took photos every month of my Heucheras and it was so amazing to see their coat of many colours throughout the seasons.

I re-potted this one last year as it had out grown its container, and I reduced the size of the plant. It is still a favourite of mine.

This was stunning last summer and I think I shall be re-potting it into a larger pot later this year.

I will share new photos as they start to change colour.

Keukenhof Gardens 2004

I would like to share some of my tulip photos taken on our trip here in 2004.

The tulips were so beautiful and it is hard to have a favourite as they are all nice.

DSC01508

They stand so tall. Mine never seem to do that.

DSC01563
In the Autumn I planted many tulip bulbs in pots in my own garden. This will give me pots of colour in the Springtime. In the photo below you can see Valeria Finnis Muscari. I liked them so much that I now have them growing in my own garden.

DSC01507

On our way to the Gardens we saw many fields and Glasshouses of tulips.

DSC01499

There were so many different colours throughout the garden. An artists paradise.

These colours look so well together.

DSC01549

And lovely Orchids which were stunning in the indoor display area.

Just had to share this one with the giant clog.
   DSC01509

And the buildings are amazing in the centre of Amsterdam. And so many bikes as its so flat and easy to cycle

And their famous windmills.

And finally, one of many flower stalls. Had it not been so far, I would have had a field day in here!

Part 2 Winter Gardens Aberdeen

Some more photos of the Winter Gardens taken in December.

 DSC00094

Many brides have had their photos taken in the Winter Gardens over the years. Its a lovely setting for photographs.

Christmas Cacti in bloom. This was growing in a large hanging basket and I think it may have been bigger than 16inch.

I like the variegated foliage on the leaf in bud.

These were taken in the Cacti house.
